Respite Care
Resite Care is designed to provide the adoptive family
with relief from the stress of parenting children with special
needs. Payment for in-home care out-of-home care can be provided
according to the standards set by TDFPS.
Spaulding for Children feels so strongly
about the importance of respite that The Helping Hands Program has been
developed and privately funded to increase these services to post adoption
families. The Saturday Fun Club and a co-op for respite care are part of
this exciting new collaborative effort to meet the respite needs of
Spaulding for Children's adoptive families as well as the needs of our
partnering agencies' families.
Respite care services are provided through:

Referral by the
post adoption caseworker to a licensed facility for therapeutic camping.

A family member hiring a qualified individual
who is able to manage the child's needs, in or out of the home. The
family then requests reimbursement from the Post Adoption Program.

The parents utilizing a facility such as
YMCA camp, Whiz Kids, or similar facilities, that does not contract with
Spaulding for Children. The family then provides documentation and
requests reimbursement.

Programs such as Saturday Fun Club, Camp Buckaroo and Friday Night Out that
are offered directly through the Post Adoption Program at no fee.
