| Residential
Treatment
Residential treatment is offered when a child exhibits
dangerous behavior such as hurting himself or others and acting
out behaviors which are so intense and longstanding that they cannot
be managed in the home setting. Residential treatment is an option
only after less intensive care options like therapy, respite and
day treatment are attempted. This services is also subject to the
availability of funds provided through the TDFPS contract that supports
the Post Adoption Program.
Up
to one year of residential treatment is covered by the Post Adoption
Program. The parents must be actively involved in family therapy
at the residential treatment facility while their child is in treatment
and the plan must be for the child to return home.
