Post Adoption

Post Adoption Casework and Service Planning

All families in the State-Contracted Post Adoption Program are assigned a caseworker. Caseworkers are responsible for verifying eligibility and developing a service plan based on the adopted child's history, the child's current functioning, and the needs of all the family members as they relate to the adopted child's presence in the home. The caseworker reviews this service plan with the adoptive family and updates it at least once every six months.

Casework services are available 24 hours a day. Casework services include the following:
  • Education regarding adoption issues
  • Counseling with families about services
  • Referring clients to appropriate community resources
  • Participating in meetings with other agencies working with a child or family
  • Aiding families in seeking third-party financial resources
