Director of Development, Marketing and Communications

The director is responsible for the development and implementation of fundraising plans and activities. The position develops and implements public relations and marketing strategies to promote community awareness of the agency, and to attract potential families. The position requires specific experience in fundraising; with demonstrated results with annual giving, major giving, special events, grants and donor stewardship programs. The position supervises three staff members.

Qualification/Skills
1. Prior non-profit experience desired, with emphasis in project and relationship management, and branding issues on a statewide basis.
2. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and planning skills.
3. Background in marketing, sales, public relations, and customer service.
4. Strong verbal and written communications skills.
5. Experience with managing information systems and databases.
6. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Supervisor for our Adoption and Family Services Program.
Spaulding for Children’s McAllen office is seeking a full time, bilingual (Spanish/English)

A Master’s degree is preferred with a minimum of two years in child placement and some supervisory experience required; or, a bachelor’s degree with at least four years of child placement experience, and supervisory experience required. Travel within South Texas is required.

The Supervisor is primarily responsible for the administration, training, and quality work of adoptions of special needs children and the family support services offered to the parents and children. This person will also need to carry a small caseload of clients and may do some training as well.

Marriage and Family Relationship Specialist Project Corazón de la Familia
Spaulding for Children's McAllen office is looking for a full time bilingual (English/Spanish) employee to fulfill this position.

Required education and experience: Master's Degree in Social Work or Bachelor's degree plus two years in child placement or related field and experience training groups.

The Family Relationship Specialist must:
Teach in both Spanish and English, the 16 hour, marriage education curriculum and Booster Sessions; plan and arrange staffing of children's groups and Family Retreats; facilitate and plan family support group meetings. Other duties include maintaining complete and current records on each case; reporting statistical information on services provided; and performing other tasks as assigned by Project Director. Must have reliable transportation and flexibility of schedule, most of these activities will occur evenings and weekends.

Internships

Intern
Non-paid internships are available to meet the scheduling and educational needs of the intern, as well as the programmatic needs of Spaulding for Children. Internships are available in the areas of: finance and administration, fund raising, public relations, clerical, foster care, adoption and post adoption. - email resume

Professional Internships
Spaulding for Children partners with the University of Houston's Graduate School of Social Work in providing field placement internships for students in the Masters of Social Work program. - email resume


Calling all Volunteers
Marketing and public relations professionals are invited to join the Marketing and Communications Committee. The committee meets monthly and members volunteer for specific projects from the agency’s communications wish list.

Detail-oriented volunteers are invited to spend a few hours each week at Spaulding for Children helping process mailings, file and maintain the mailing lists.

Event volunteers are invited to join one or more of Spaulding for Children’s event planning committees to plan fund raisers and family recruitment functions.

Parents who have adopted through Spaulding for Children are invited to help with site visits by potential funders. Adult adoptees are also invited to volunteer for this important job.

Board of Directors — if you are ready to make an annual leadership gift, share your many contacts, play an active role in the fiscal oversight of Spaulding for Children, attend board meetings, serve on a committee and support special events, the Board of Director’s nominating committee would love to hear from you.

Individuals and groups are invited to help bring fun and games to our Spring Picnic.
